Passwords

Who is this for?

This information applies to anyone using "email.mtu.edu" as their IMAP server. Generally, students who started at MTU in Fall 2002 (or later) use this mail service, as do all Extended University Program (EUP) students. So do all newly admitted students for future semesters who have been notified about their MTU email.

Students, staff, and faculty who use IMAP servers with names such as "imap.other.mtu.edu" should contact their departments for information on departmental passwords.

Setting Your MTU ISO Password:

Your ISO Password is is the same password you use for e-mail, HuskyMail, WebCT, or The Avenue. If your MTU ISO password is still set to its original value you should change it as soon as possible. To do this:

  1. Read the MTU ISO Password Criteria document located at http://www.login.mtu.edu/docs/public/mtuiso_password_criteria.html. This document explains what a good, secure password is and why having one is important.

  2. Go to http://www.login.mtu.edu and click the second bulleted item at the top of the page, Change Your Campus Password.

  3. Enter your MTU User ID into the correct field. Your User ID is the part of your email address to the left of the @. For example, if your email address is "bob@mtu.edu", then your User ID is "bob".

  4. Enter your current password into the password field. You must login with your current password in order to change it to a new, more secure password.

  5. Click Login.

  6. If you have successfully logged in, you will arrive at a new page which says User <your User ID>has logged in successfully. If your login was unsuccessful, you will see an error page and will be given another chance to log in.

  7. After successfully logging in, click the OK button to take you to the Change Campus Password page.

  8. Enter your old password into the Old Password field, and enter your newly chosen ISO Password twice - once into the New Password field, and once into the Confirm New Password field. Then click the Change Password button.

  9. The passwords that you enter into the New Password and the Confirm New Password fields must match to ensure that you typed your password correctly. If you type one of the fields incorrectly, your password will not be changed and you will be given another chance to enter them correctly.

  10. Once you enter and confirm your new password, you will be taken to a new page stating that "Your password has been changed!". Click the OK button. Your password has been changed and you can now use the MTU HuskyMail Service.
