Configuring > Eudora for IMAP servers
Eudora 5.2 (Eudora 6 is similar)
Eudora allows you to create a different "personality" for each
of your email addresses. This makes it easy to access multiple email
accounts from the same email program. You can create a new personality
specifically for your email.mtu.edu address to differentiate it from
your current settings, or you can set up your default personality to
use the email.mtu.edu server.
Workaround for SBC and Charter users
Setting up a new account
Converting an existing account
Workaround for SBC and Charter users:
-
Quit Eudora if it is open.
-
You will need to edit a file named either "eudora.ini" or "deudora.ini"
which contains your Eudora preferences. This file will probably be in
C:\Program Files\Qualcomm\Eudora on a Windows XP computer; other systems
may vary. You may have to use the Windows "Search" feature to find the
file on your computer.
In Windows XP:
- Click the "Start" button
- Select "Search"
- Click the item for "All Files and Folders"
- Using the drop-down menu labeled "Look in:" select "Local Hard Drives" under "My Computer".
- Enter eudora.ini in the box labeled "All or part of the file name:"
(this will find both eudora.ini and deudora.ini).
-
In the search results window, you should see the file listed. Right click
on the name of the file, and chose "Open With...". Select Notepad
from the list of available programs as you will need to edit this text
file.
-
The very first line of this file should say [Settings]. Immediately
below this line, enter the value SMTPPort=2525 on its own line.
-
Save the file, quit Notepad, and restart Eudora. You should now be able to
send email using email.mtu.edu as your SMTP server.
To create a new account:
-
Under Tools in the menu bar, select Personalities.
