MTU Email Settings

Configuring > Mail (for Mac OS X)

Mail 2.1 (other versions should be similar)

Select Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts

Next click the plus sign near the bottom of the accounts screen to create a new account.

Now fill out all the following details:

Account Type: IMAP
Description: Use any phrase, perhaps "MTU IMAP".
Email Address: pjsmith@mtu.edu (your own email address)
Full Name: Pat Smith (your full name)
Incoming Mail Server: email.mtu.edu
User Name: pjsmith (your own user name)
Password: your password

Now pick Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) Server Settings... and fill out all the following details:

Outgoing Mail Server: email.mtu.edu
Server port: 2526
Check the box: Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
Username: pjsmith (your user name)
Password: your password
Click OK.

Now pick Advanced and fill out all the following details:

Check the box: Enable this account
Check the box: Include when automatically checking for new mail
IMAP Path Prefix: (leave this blank)
Port: 993
Check the box: Use SSL
Authentication: Password (pull down this choice)
