    User Information

    • Your Name - Choose the name you want to appear on outgoing mail. Most people will opt for their real name (i.e. Joe Smith).

    • E-mail Address - Enter your mtu.edu address, for example jsmith@mtu.edu.

    Server Information

    • Incoming mail server (POP3) - Enter the value email.mtu.edu.

    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP) - Enter the same value as above, email.mtu.edu.

    Logon Information

    • User Name - Enter your MTU UserID. Your UserID is the part of your email address to the left of the @. For example, if your MTU Email Address is jsmith@mtu.edu, your UserID is jsmith.

    • Password - In this text box you must enter your MTU ISO Password. If you'd like to be prompted for your password every time you check your email, uncheck the box labeled Remember password. Otherwise your password will be automatically used to log you in.

  5. After filling the text boxes, click the More Settings button. This will open the Internet E-mail Settings window. Click the Outgoing Server tab, and select the box for My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.

  6. Click the Advanced tab, and select the box for Incoming Server (POP3): this server requires secure connection (SSL). Also check the boxes labeled Leave a copy of messages on the server and Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items', then click the OK button.

  7. You should now see the Congratulations! message, indicating that you have entered the information necessary. Click the Finish button. The Mail Setup window may still be open; click the Close button to close it.

  8. Exit Outlook 2002 and restart it before you use the secure connection for the first time.
