Configuring > Windows Mail (for Vista)

Open Windows Mail and, if a window pops up asking for your name, type it in.
Otherwise, go to Tools then Accounts and click Add.
Then chose E-mail Account and click Next, then type in your name.

Type in your Michigan Tech e-mail address and click Next

Change the incoming server type to IMAP, type in email.mtu.edu for both the Incoming and Outgoing e-mail server names. Then check Outgoing server requires authentications and click Next

Type your username (what comes before the @mtu.edu in your e-mail address) and password. If you wish, check the box to Remember Password. Having an e-mail client remember your password makes it easier for others to access your e-mail if they use the same computer. Click Next to continue.

Check Do not download e-mail and folders at this time and click Finish

Go to Tools -> Accounts

Select email.mtu.edu and click Properties

Under the General tab, type a new name in for the mail account if you wish.

Go to the Advanced tab and check This server requires a
secure connection (SSL) under both Outgoing and Incoming mail.
Make sure the port numbers are 25 for outgoing and 993 for incoming.
Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) such as Charter and SBC do not
allow you to use port 25, so, in those cases use 2525. This should work
at all locations, so you can use port 2525 to be safe. Click OK
when you are finished.

Click Send/Receive to sync all of your e-mail and folders.
